Why Every Real Estate Agent Needs Call Tracking

Written by Lars Hedenborg on November 16, 2017

When I first started my Real Estate business, I realized that there is this unwritten scarcity rule that encourages real estate agents to post their cell phone number everywhere. Many agents post their cell phone numbers on flyers, yard signs, business cards, and online.

This need to never miss a call will lead to you answering your phone at all hours of the day and night and is ultimately preventing you from creating your life by design.

One of the first things I teach my new clients is the concept of call tracking, call routing, call recording, and call reporting. Inside of Real Estate B-School, we have five marketing pillars, and upon implementing these strategies, our agents begin to drive more leads and having your cell phone as the main mode of communication is no longer an option.

With a tool that gives you the capability to be smart about your calls and helps you ultimately track your business activities better, you will have the freedom to live a life with time and money freedom and grow your business at the same time.

Call Tracking

Call tracking is the opportunity to assign specific numbers to promotional activities. For example, in my own business, we have 64 separate phone numbers all traced back to a particular yard sign, website, or ad. When we get a call from that number, we automatically know where it came from and can begin tracking our ROI.

Call Routing

As your team grows, the ability to route the calls to the appropriate agent will become increasingly important. The tool my team uses allows us to direct a call to one person for two rings, and then another until it finally redirects to voicemail.

Call Recording

The ultimate goal is for you not to be answering every call. The functionality of call recording gives you the capability to listen to and train your staff.

Call Reporting

Each day, week, and month I have reports sent to me containing details like lead sources, who answered the call, who has missed the call, how long the calls lasted, etc. By understanding my team’s activities better, I can understand my business better. For example, last month we got 72 calls just from one marketing campaign targeted towards expired listings.
